Cornerstone Christian School provides students with a comprehensive education that goes above and beyond expectations. A vital component of CCS’s mission statement is that our graduates “will be prepared both spiritually and academically to be in the world to serve God for life as they proceed to their next level of education.” Here are just a few examples of how we do that:

SPIRITUALLY
Every day, our faculty and students begin their day in prayer and Bible study. We end our days in prayer. Weekly chapel services provide an opportunity for our students to gather together in worship and praise. Cornerstone Christian School students are regularly out in the community , participating in numerous service projects. These include delivering Meals for the Elderly, volunteering at House of Faith, Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Unit, and the Adult Enrichment Center, as well as helping the San Angelo Area Food Bank, and fundraising for an orphanage in Mexico. Our students bring a rich blend of diverse denominations, with over 40 local churches represented among the student body of CCS.

Every September, our entire high school student body travels to the Texas Hill Country for a 3-day retreat along the peaceful banks of the Frio River. Not only does this provide CCS students with a unique ~ and often life-changing ~ opportunity to grow closer to Christ, but it also strengthens the relationships and bonds among themselves as classmates and friends.

At Cornerstone Christian School, all of our students have the opportunity to put their faith into action, and to take that faith out into the world.

ACADEMICALLY
Academic standards and expectations for all of our students is high. We believe that a Christian school should not only meet, but exceed, the scholastic standards of other schools. Our high standards and expectations provide results:

Average American College Testing (ACT) scores:

CCS Class of 2010 27.1
State of Texas 20.7
National 21.1

In our current Class of 2010, 9 of 10 students (90%) are participating in dual-credit courses with Angelo State University. Additionally, math, science and fine arts dual-credit courses are offered on our campus through Howard College.

In this past year’s Class of 2009, one of our students has received a National Merit Scholarship Award of Recognition, and another has received a National Merit Scholarship Award of Commendation.

Approximately 25% of our 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students have been recommended to the Joseph Baldwin Academy for superior scores on national achievement tests.

Fifteen CCS students advanced to the 2008 District XI Regional Science and Engineering Competition. Competing against 30 area school districts and over 300 students, all fifteen of our students placed in their categories, with thirteen qualifying to advance to the state-level competition. One of the students advanced to the National Science Fair in Atlanta as an observer.

At the 2008 Exxon-Mobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair (the state-level science fair competition), nine students represented Cornerstone, with two of those students winning awards and placing in the competition.

FINE ARTS
Students in all grade levels have the opportunity to participate in fine arts. At the junior high and high school levels, students can choose from among orchestra, choir, or art. In 2008, our Varsity Orchestra participated in their first-ever competition in New Braunfels, winning a “Superior” rating for their performance, and “Best in Class” in the Composite Division.
